Brown-banded Hunter Hawk-moth
Common name for a species of
hawk moth (fig.),
with the scientific designation Theretra silhetensis. It belongs ton the
family Sphingidae and is found across southern and eastern Asia. It has
a hairy brown body with a whitish line, that runs lengthwise from behind
the head to its rear, along the centre of its back. The wings, that may
have a span of up to 7 centimeters, are creamy-white to fawn, with dark
brown bars that run along their length and that near the middle of the
front side are marked by a single dark dot. Its hairy legs can be
white to fawn, depending on the individual, and its large eyes are brown.
