Statue of King Pyusawhti of Bagan (fig.) with his magic bow, which he used to quell the Five Great Menaces, i.e. a large tiger, a huge flying squirrel, a giant wild boar, a big bird, and the extensive proliferation of the vines of a gourd plant, on which he is here seated.

During his reign, King Pyusawhti consequently had pagodas built at each of the places where he destroyed the Five Great Menaces, including the gourd-shaped Buphaya Pagoda (fig.).
