The Imperial Altar in Hue was used by the kings of the
Nguyen Dynasty. It is usually referred to as the
Esplanade of Sacrifice to the Heaven and Earth.
It is reminiscent of
Tian Tan,
i.e.
the Altar of Heaven
at the Temple of Heaven (fig.)
in Beijing. In Vietnamese, it is known as Dan te Troi
Dat (Đàn tế Trời Đất).
