This bird belongs to a widespread species of migratory leaf-warblers, found in Europe and temperate to subtropical Asia.

This insectivorous bird is placed in the family Phylloscopidae and has the scientific name Phylloscopus trochiloides.

 

There are several subspecies, which are divided into two main groups, i.e. an eastern group, known as Greenish Warblers and a western group, known as Green Warblers.

Most members, of both groups, winter in southern Asia, from India to southern China.

 

Generally, most members are grayish-green above and off-white below, with a single wing bar in the western populations.

Besides this, there are some other, minor differences between the different subspecies, such as a slight variation in colouration.
