On the face of it, the Green Orb Spider is a bright-green version of the Golden Orb-web Spider (fig.), but with yellowish joints reminiscent to those of the Batik Golden Web Spider (fig.).

Like the Golden Orb-web Spider, it also has two distinctive lines that run across the back of its abdomen, yet in reality it is a species in its own right, with the scientific name Peucetia viridana and belonging to the genus Peucetia, i.e. a genus of lynx spiders.

It is found from India to northern Thailand. This one was spotted near Pai, in Mae Hong Son province, and is guarding an egg sac.
