Fishermen at the Li River near Yangshuo, one on a raft,
another at the side. These men use well-trained
Great Cormorants to catch
fish,
a local trade referred to as cormorant fishing.
The birds dive into the water and hunt for fish, whilst
their throats are tied with a piece of cord, preventing
them from swallowing their catch, which on return is
retrieved from their mouths.
