In Fengdu Ghost City (fig.), bas-reliefs at Gui Men Guan, i.e. the Taoist Gate of Hell, depict scenes and characters of the Underworld.

The main panel in the centre, which shows demons torturing the souls of the wicked, is flanked by depictions of Jiao Gui and Bai Wu Chang (fig.).

On the left is a relief showing Ji Jiao Gui (fig.), the demon of Hell with chicken feet and a metal chain (fig.), who captures the wicked dead and brings them away for punishment, while on the right is an illustration of Bai Wu Chang (fig.), a servant of Hell, who has the task to guide the souls of the kind and benevolent dead safely pass the Gate of Hell.
