Elongated Tortoises have an distinctly elongated carapace, which is yellow with black blotches of variable size and density, with individuals ranging from pure yellow to predominantly black.

They are hence also known as Yellow Tortoises. This species' forelegs are strongly scaled and its beak feebly hooked.
