Bo Bo Gyi worship and blessing

Thailand

The Burmese nat-like deity Bo Bo Gyi, a benevolent guardian spirit is sometimes also found in Buddhist temples in northern Thailand bordering Myanmar, like near Wat Sri Boon Reuang (fig.) and Wat Jong Soong (fig.), in Mae Sariang. It is classically depicted as a life-sized man, often holding a walking stick in one hand while pointing the index finger of his other hand in a direction away from him.

After paying their respects by prostrating in front of the image, worshippers will place the tip of this guardian spirit's forward pointing index finger (fig.) between the eyebrows or on the forehead, for blessing and good luck.
