A gilded statue of Yaoshi Fo, also known as the Medicine Buddha or Bhaisajyaguru, in the Lingyin Temple near Hangzhou (fig.). He holds a jar of medicine nectar, and is accompanied by his two attendants, i.e. Suryaprabha and Chandraprabha, two bodhisattvas who symbolize the sun (Surya) and moon (Chandra), respectively.

He has a blue complexion and is here depicted with blue hair, representing a peaceful manifestation. In front of the altar is a cone-shaped, pagoda-like structure, with countless Buddha image under a chattra, which are said to symbolize the ten thousand bodhisattvas of the Three Ages of Buddhism (fig.).
