  Daruka (subdued by Bhadrakali)

Myanmar

Statue of Bhadrakali (fig.) subduing the asura Daruka, a demon used as a boon given by Brahma to torment the world. As a daughter of Shiva, created from his third eye, many of her attributes features are similar to those of Shiva, such as the crescent, the tiger fur and the snake, whilst this pose in particular is reminiscent of Nataraja (fig.), i.e. Shiva as ‘lord of dance’.
