The Aisawan Thipphaya Asana pavilion was built in 1876 by order of King Rama V and modelled after Bangkok's Ahporn Phimohk Prasat (fig.) commissioned by King Mongkut, i.e. Rama IV, who used it to exchange the Thai Royal Regalia (fig.), before boarding his royal palanquin.

Today, this pavilion at the Bang Pa-in, Summer Palace, which is erected on stilts in a water basin, houses a statue of King Chulachomklao, dressed in the uniform of Field Marshal, which was erected by his son King Wachirawut, i.e. Rama VI.

The pavilion is very similar to Sala Klahng Nahm (fig.) in Ramkamhaeng University in Bangkok, and reminds also of the newer Reuan Yod Borom Mangkalanusonih (fig.). On the right is the entrance to the Varophaat Phimaan palace.
