Statue of
Mae Phra Thoranee,
i.e. the goddess of the earth, who is typically
portrayed
wringing water from her hair (fig.)
and who is the main figure
depicted on the logo of the Metropolitan Waterworks
Authority. In the right background is the former
Metropolitan Waterworks Authority headquarters at the Maen
Sri Intersection (fig.),
formerly known as the Bangkok Waterworks Authority, while in the left background is the present headquarters of
the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority. As the main
background in blue, the colour naturally used for water, are
the water clarifiers (fig.)
of the Bangkhen Water Treatment Plant (fig.), while in the left
bottom corner is the logo of the 100th Anniversary of
Thailand Waterworks, made up of the Thai number 100 (๑๐๐),
that is stylized as waves of water, with the first
zero of the number 100 inside a drop of water. In the
original, larger version of the logo, the first zero also
contains the circular logo of the Metropolitan Waterworks
Authority (fig.), depicting
Mae Phra Thoranee. |
