Look niang are the large, brown beans of the Archidendron jiringa, a tree native to Southeast Asia. Though mildly toxic due to the presence of djenkolic acid, these beans are consumed as an ingredient in curries in southern Thailand, as well as in Indonesia, Malaysia and Myanmar.
