This sandbank or bar, known in Thai as sandon and situated at the mouth of the Chao Phrya river in Samut Prakan, is a good feeding ground for mudskippers (fig.).
These mudflats also attract various kinds of waterfowl that feed on crabs and tiny fish. Even so, to keep the estuary open for traffic dredgers continuously need to maintain the depth of the river (fig.).
