Ma muang raed, i.e. literally ‘rhino mango’, is the name given to this species of mango, a specialty from the province of Chachengsao.

 

The name derives from the peculiar hook that grows from its side at the top and resembles a rhinoceros' horn (fig.), an animal that in Thai is known as raed.
