A rack of
ji
or ji dao (fig.),
i.e. a Chinese lance and martial weapon,
at the entrance of one of the main buildings at the
Confucius
Temple in Beijing.
Such racks are meant to
symbolically fight off evil
(fig.).
These ones all
have spearheads that sprout from a
dragon's
mouth and also have an additional
dragon head ornament on the side, which has an open
mouth in which sits a pearl.
