Phuttaraksah are flowers of the genus Canna. They grow in clusters and their leaves are similar to those of the curcuma or turmeric.

 

It is often seen in Thailand, usually of yellow, orange-red, or pink colour. The yellow variety is the symbol of Father's Day in Thailand, celebrated annually on the King's birthday, i.e. 5 December.
