The pandas Chuang-Chuang and Lin-Hui in Chiang Mai Zoo. On 27 May 2009, Lin-Hui gave birth to a healthy female panda cub, which was named Lin Ping. It is one of the few pandas in the world born in captivity outside of China.

In China, one or more pandas are depicted on the popular silver and gold Panda Coins, that since 1982 are issued annually by the People's Bank of China (fig.).
