  ngun hoi

Thailand

These elongated and narrow shaped pieces of brass and bronze are a kind of ancient money, nicknamed ngun reua, i.e. ‘boat money’, for its shape. There are different varieties, each with its own specific name, and of which the one here in the middle is known as ngun hoi.
