There are various types of
mangrove, and these
ones
in
Samut Prakan
are of the
Rizophora kind,
known in Thai as
gohng gahng bai
lek (โกงกางใบเล็ก), that develop
large
stilt-like
buttress roots (fig.).
In the
Bay of
Phang Nga, a thick forest of similar mangrove trees covers a large area that is only accessible by boat via a labyrinth of meandering waterways.
