Maiyarahb weed has leaves that fold up with the slightest touch or when they come in contact with rain. This self-defence system scares off any leaf-eating flying insects that may land on it, and also prevents heavy raindrops from damaging this rather fragile shrub. It is nicknamed mae ai, i.e. ‘shy mother’.
