Khai look kheuy, which literally translates as ‘son-in-law eggs’, is a Thai savory dish of hard boiled eggs, cut in half and fried in oil until they are golden brown and blistered. As seen here, it is served over and eaten with plain cooked rice.

The eggs are prepared and served in a sweet, syrup-like sauce, made of tamarind paste, soft brown or palm sugar, a little fish sauce and lime juice, mixed with topped fried onion, dried red chilies and some chopped-up coriander leaves.
