A Chinese man in the village of Baisha, near Li Jiang, in Yunnan Province, playing the hulusi, a reed wind instrument that consists of three bamboo pipes that are attached to a gourd, known in Chinese as hu lu, of which the middle pipe has finger holes whilst the other two serve as drone-pipes. The hulusi is somewhat reminiscent of the Indian pungi (fig.).
