An enormous temple drum,
known as
klong inthaperih, named after and
erected adjacent to a statue of
Indra
(fig.), the
Vedic god of war,
in the drum tower (ho klong)
of Wat Phra Sri Chinarat
in Pitsanulok.
In some temples the
drum tower is combined with the belfry (ho
rakhang -
fig.) and some temple drums are slim and long with only one drum head enabling them to be
stood upright (fig.).
