Akin to dragon pillars (fig.) and dragon staircase slabs (fig.), these large bronze decorative vessels in Beijing International Airport have patterns of dragons and clouds or cloud scrolls.

Whereas the dragons are ancient symbols of immortality, wisdom and might, the clouds or cloud scrolls are symbols of a desirable destiny, as the Chinese word for cloud is homophonous with the word for ‘luckiness’.
