  Hindu rite for dead macaque

India

In India, monkeys are considered the warriors of King Rama, an avatar of Vishnu, and when one of them dies near a Hindu community, it is given the proper respect and rites for the dead, including the burning of incense...

... and the offering of garlands made of Mexican Marigold. Yet, unlike most dead Hindus, monkeys are not cremated, but thrown in a river, preferably at a prayag, as is also the case with children, pregnant women and priests. This lifeless macaque was thrown in the Ganges.
