Cuoi hoi tron goi are traditional pre-matrimonial wedding gifts in Vietnam, that the groom-to-be offers to the bride-to-be during the official marriage proposal, usually some 3 to 6 months prior to the actual wedding.

The gifts consist of trays or baskets, numbering five, seven or nine in total, that are filled with different presents, including sweets, especially banh com (fig.), fruits, flowers and teas, and sometimes betel nuts, a remnants of the past. The gifts are typically towered upon each other in the shape of a cone or pyramid, and festooned with red ribbons, the colour that represents good luck.

Often the Chinese character sang-i, which means ‘double happiness’, is attached to the gifts, whilst fruits may be shaped in the form of an auspicious dragon.
