  Wihaan Sadet Pho Phra Siwa

The Thai temple Wihaan Sadet Pho Phra Siwa, located in Bangkok's Khoo Bon area, is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva (fig.).

 

In front of the wihaan are two halls in the form of hollow elephants, that contain a linga with a yoni (fig.), and a statue of Lakshmi, consort of Vishnu and goddess of beauty and fortune, as well as bas-reliefs of Uma in her different aspects (fig.).

The temple features several statues of Shiva in his different aspects, including Ardhanari, i.e. their combined form (fig,) and Nataraja, i.e. this depiction of Shiva as the ‘Lord of Dance’, as well as a large statue of the Churning of the Ocean of Milk (fig.).
