Thailand

Inside the pagoda of Wat Thaton (fig.), there is a labyrinth of corridors, halls and niches, that exhibit a rich variety of oriental artifacts on Buddhism and mythology.

Included are a number of rather unique Buddha images, many of which display rare poses and mudras.

A winding staircase shaped in the form of a dragon's body leads to the upper chamber, which houses a relic.

In this top hall, believers gather to worship at the shrine which is again flanked by a golden and a silver dragon, as well as two Burmese-style legged nagah (fig.), i.e. one in golden, the other silver.
