Wat Hua Lampong (fig.),
a
third class royal temple in
Bangkok's
Bang Rak district, is today surrounded by tall
skyscrapers,
a far cry from its beginning, when the area where the temple is
built and from which its name derives, was known as
thung hua lampong (ทุ่งวัวลำพอง),
i.e. ‘wild cattle field’.
