  Suwan and Suwaan

Vietnam

In the cave at the foot of the Marble Mountains in Da Nang, a long and narrow tunnel leads to the Hall of Justice, where Yama passes judgement on the souls of the dead, measuring the good and bad deeds of each soul in a large scale (fig.).

At the entrance to the tunnel, past the Bridge of No Return that crosses the Lake of the Doomed, are two bas-reliefs, one on either side of the wall, representing Suwan and Suwaan, the two scribes who record the good and bad deeds of mankind.
