Suchada is
the name of the
devoted, young, rich and beautiful
milkmaid, who offered
Siddhartha
the last meal before his
Enlightenment.
After finishing the
meal Siddhartha took the golden bowl and threw it in a
river, asking that if he was destined to become a
Buddha, to let the bowl float upstream, rather than
downstream. The bowl astonishingly went upstream,
all the while keeping in the middle of the river (fig.).
