Southern Pig-tail
Macaque, a species
of
macaque
also known as
Pig-tail Macaque
and
Beruk. It is distinguished by a short thin
tail, that is carried sticking up over the back
(fig.). Adult
males, like this one,
are recognized by their
muscular body and large size, almost twice that of females.
On the
right, a
baby Beruk,
still very
recognizable
by its
grayish pink
hands with
dark brown
nails, and
its
distinctive
cap of dark
short hairs
on the
crown.
