Songkraan festival is celebrated by smearing each others face with wet talcum powder and throwing exuberantly with water (fig.).

Besides this also dry talcum powder is lavishly thrown around, creating large dusty clouds (fig.).

During the three day festival everyone is considered a legitimate target, including officers of the Royal Thai Police (fig.), though they definitely know how to fight back in self-defence (fig.).
