The Sagittarius Monument in Bangkok's Lumphini Park was erected in reflection of the shared zodiacal sign of king Bhumipon Adunyadet and the Japanese emperor Akihito.

It was commissioned by the Thai-Japanese Association and created by professor emeritus Thana Lauhakaikul, after an existing monument in Phuket, called Ban Lae Chiwit (fig.), meaning ‘Home & Life’ and which is erected at Phuket Gateway (fig.).
