   Royal Thai Mint Museum

The permanent Museum at the Royal Thai Mint in the Rohng Kasahp Rangsit complex in Pathum Thani is a walk though the history of Thai coins, medals and decorations.

 

The first section shows has a diorama of people trading goods and displays of the earliest forms of money and other means of payment used in history, including bartering with goods and photduang bullet money (fig.).

The next room has more on the history of the Mint which was established in 1860 by King Rama IV (fig.) and known as Rohng Krasahp Sitthikahn(fig.), and on its very first supervisor  Khun Moht Amatyakun (fig.).

 

It also displays some of the tools used in the early days of the first Mint, while the rooms after this are dedicated to all kinds of coins produced by the Mint, including foreign coins and commemorative coins, as well as information and displays of amulets, medals, orders and royal decorations, as well as their production process.
