Royal Barge Procession
Thailand's Royal Barge Procession (fig.) is always held on the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok with oarsmen and other crew recruited from the Royal Thai Navy.
The oarsmen keep the rhythm by the beating of drums, the lifting and dropping of large upright bamboo rods decorated with seven white tassels, and the sound of a conch, as well as by a kind of versed song called kaap he reua.
