The Royal Barge Procession is opened by the escort barges Reua Thong Bah Bin on the port side (fig.) and Reua Thong Kwahn Fah (fig.) on starboard. The outside hull of both barges is painted black, without any pattern, and their bows and sterns are gilded, and during ceremonies adorned with two creamy tassels, one on each side, and a golden pah thip-like piece of cloth in between.
