 Cause:

Printed already in 2440 BE (1897 AD) for mail purposes, these stamps were shelved due the layout not being satisfactory to royal wish and should in fact never have been used. However, due to its resemblance to the Rama V - Second Series, an undisclosed amount of stamps were unintentionally distributed to various provinces before it was noticed. They were eventually recalled and done away with.
