The
varieties
are
known in
Thai as
maprahng
(Bouea
macrophylla -
fig.);
mapring (Bouea oppositifolia
and Bouea microphylla, which though considered a distinct
species have the same name in Thai; and
mayong
(Bouea burmanica -
fig.).
Whereas the fruits of the
mayong
are somewhat larger and more slender than the egg-shaped fruits
of the
maprahng,
the
fruits of the
mapring
are smaller and more round in shape, like the ones seen
here.
