Olive-backed Sunbird (male eclipse)
An male eclipse Olive-backed Sunbird, perching high-up in a tree, in Kanchanaburi.
It is similar to the breeding male (fig.), but has less dark, metallic blue-black colouring on the throat and upper breast.
Furthermore, there is no metallic blue-black colouring on the face and it lacks the maroon shine on the lower breast.
The blue-black colouring is actually reduced to no more than a gular stripe.
