Manohra
is the
name of the longest
existing dance drama in
Thailand (fig.)
and relates the events
of the protagonist
prince
Phra Suthon, who sets out to liberate
Manohra, an abducted
kinnari. The
traditional
dance is native to
Pattalung
and especially
popular in South
Thailand. Performers
dress in colourful
costumes, with the tail
of a kinnari at the
back, a
chadah-like
crown, and
aluminum
lep,
i.e.
long, slightly curved finger
pieces
(fig.).
