  Thai-Laotian border Mae Khong

 

Laos

The Laotian border and its former makeshift border control post at Done Xao along the Mae Khong River (fig.) near the Golden Triangle. The blue band in the Laotian national flag represents  the Mae Khong River.

 

The white disc in its center symbolizes the full moon reflecting in it, and the red bands on either side stand for the blood of the people. It thus represents the unity of the people and a bright future.
