The northernmost part of
Laem Son-on,
a spit of land in
Songkhla
known in English as the
‘Peninsula of Young Pines’, is home to
a small park that doubles as a traffic roundabout.
This
recreational area
is named
‘Garden of the Two Seas’
for its position
in between the two large bodies of water, i.e. the
Gulf of Thailand and
Songkhla Lake.
Laem Son-on
The very tip of
the peninsula
features a large statue of a
naga
that [normally] spews water from its
mouth and which in more than one way is
reminiscent of the
Merlion
in Singapore's
Marina Bay
(fig.).
The pine trees for which the
isthmus
is named are also seen here.
