Kuan U,
the Tiger General of Shu seated on his throne. Since the deification
of Kuan U in the Sui Dynasty, statues of his son and of his aide-de-camp
often appear alongside that of his own.
Whereas
in
iconography,
Kuan U
is traditionally portrayed as a red-faced warrior with a
long lush beard (fig.),
his son
Kuan Ping
(fig.) is
depicted with a face painted white, whereas that of his
aid
Chou Tsang (fig.)
is
black (fig.).
