Madana, who is also known as Manmatha, Kama and Kamadeva, is the Hindu god of love and desire. Here, he is depicted with his consort Rati, and holding a bow, as well as love arrows decorated with human faces. As with most Hindu gods, his shakti is depicted on his left side, i.e. closest to the heart.
