Steamed seed pods of the Indian Trumpet Tree (fig.), which are in Thai known as lin fah, i.e. ‘sky tongues’, are used for their medicinal properties. These edible seed pods have a high content of bioflavonoids and have since long been used in local traditional folk medicine, mainly as a remedy against cough, bronchitis and wheeze.
