To mark the occasion that the Thai cabinet  on 17 February 2009, conferred King Bhumiphon the title The Father of Thai Craftsmanship Standard, for his talents in Workmanship, an ability that already showed when he made his own toys as a child, which included gliders, miniature warships, and wooden carriages. In the process the cabinet declared that annually 2 March would be the National Workmanship Standard Day
