The Erawan National Park in Kanchanaburi covers an area of about 550 kmē and is home to the 7 levels high Erawan Waterfall (fig.). Both the park and falls are named after the multi-headed elephant (fig.) from Hindu mythology, which is also on the park's emblem.

It is said that the falling water at highest level, known as Phu Pha Erawan, breaks up over the natural obstacles while cascading down its path thus creating shapes reminiscent of the multiple trunks of Erawan.
